Bangkok - capital city of Thailand. Population of approx. 7 million
Known as the world's hottest major city city, Bangkok experiences temperatures most days that are over 30 degrees, although there are cooler periods during November to February. Originally a small trading post. Bangkok is today one the largest cities in the world and a major centre for local and international banks and financial institutions. Two international airports service the city with an Airport Rail Link to downtown Bangkok. There are four rapid transit lines operating to various destinations in Bangkok with additional rail links still under construction to other locations in Thailand. There is plenty to see and do in Bangkok with its thousands of temples, Thai architecture, cultural landmarks, exotic and notorious entertainment venues, art galleries, museums, colourful markets and sporting clubs. There are an enormous number of food outlets throughout Bangkok to suit every type of budget, from food carts on street corners, curry and noodle stalls, roadside barbecues to superb restaurants offering menus of fabulous Thai, Asian and international cuisine. Dinner cruises offering buffet style menus are also popular tourist attractions. Bangkok has a wide range of accommodation on offer; there are back packer hostels, budget or moderate to expensive hotels, as well as luxurious, expensive hotels, all priced accordingly.
