Cape Town Hotels Price Comparisons
The Mother City of South Africa, Cape Town is the legislative capital and the second most populated city. It is also the most southern city in Africa, a very popular tourist destination and is located near the Cape of Good Hope which Sir Francis Drake described as "the fairest Cape in all the world". Cape Town is recognised as being one of the most beautiful cities of the world. It boasts a subtropical Mediterranean climate of hot, dry summer months which stretch from December to March and cool, wet winters from June to August. Well known landmarks include the imposing Table Mountain and the cableway, several beautiful beaches, the Cape Winelands of Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Paarl, the natural harbour and the Cape Point Nature Reserve. Much of early South African history is on display in Cape Town. From the imposing Cape Dutch architecture of Groot Constantia, the Rhodes memorial, the Castle of Good Hope with its extensive display of military items through to the more recently infamous Robben Island penitentiary for political prisoners. Many major national and international sporting events are held throughout the year at various venues, notably cricket, rugby union, cycling and more recently, Cape Town was the venue for several of the games of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
