Czech Republic Hotels Price Comparisons
The Czech Republic is a small. landlocked country in central Europe, bordered by Germany, Austria, Poland and Slovakia. It is one of the most diverse countries in Europe and bears testimony in its towns, ancient castles, monasteries and stately mansions to the many ethnic groups and nationalities that have influenced its history.
The Czech Republic is a huge repository of architectural treasures and has beautiful scenery to complete a picture postcard look and feel. The country joined the European Union in 2004. The official spoken languages are Czech and Slovak, but the diverse history of areas such as Bohemia, Moravia and Czech Silesia has resulted in various, sometimes very different, dialects being spoken. The capital is Prague, a delightful, ancient city of some 2.3 million people and steeped in centuries of European history. It is one of the largest cities in central Europe and the town centre is on the UNESCO World Heritage list. The city is one of the most popular travel destinations in Europe and attracts millions of tourists every year. Brno is the largest city in Moravia and has several excellent museums. It is the site of the annual Czech Moto GP. Ostrava is the third largest city, with a long history of coal mining and heavy industry. Accommodation choices in the Czech Republic are many and varied, ranging from budget backpacker to world class luxury hotels. Due to Prague's popularity as a tourist destination, accommodation prices rise considerably during the summer high season and advance bookings at this time are recommended.
