Denmark Hotels Price Comparisons
This small Scandinavian country, once the seat of power for the Viking raiders that plundered much of Scandinavia and northern Europe, is now a modern, prosperous nation that "punches above its weight" in European affairs. Denmark is known for its liberal social-welfare system, progressive social policies and a commitment to free speech.
The country has a well-preserved, rich cultural heritage, and a legendary minimalist approach to design and architecture. Homeland of the beloved Hans Christian Andersen, Denmark is also synonymous with Lego, one of the world's most popular toys and the Legoland theme park is one of Denmark's most visited attractions. The Danes pride themselves on being one of he most energy efficient countries in the world. Green technology has generated new industries and is now one of the country's biggest exports. Visitors to Denmark will find it necessary to pay levies and imposts on non-renewable items such as plastic bags, cans and gasoline. The capital city is Copenhagen, one of the holiday gems of Europe. With a population of approximately one million people, Copenhagen is small when compared to other European capitals, but the city is big enough to offer lots of shopping, culture and nightlife, while at the same time being small enough to be safe and easily navigated. The accommodation throughout Denmark is plentiful and varied, ranging from traditional lodgings, backpacker budget to world class five star luxury.
