Egypt Hotels Price Comparisons
Egypt can be considered as one of the most popular tourist destinations anywhere in the world. It is a country that stimulates western tourists like few others and the ancient churches, monasteries and mosques that dot the landscape bear testimony to it being the cradle of much of ancient civilization. With its temples, hieroglyphs, mummies, pyramids and rich archaeology, Egypt exerts an influence over our understanding of early civilisations like no other country.
This country is dominated by the rich flood plains of the Nile on which it depends totally for crops and agriculture. The rest of Egypt is largely a desert, a part of the great Sahara that covers so much of the North Africa landscape. The summers are hot and dry and the winters are moderate which makes that time of year the best to visit. The capital city is Cairo, a huge sprawling metropolis of 16 million people and one of the most densely populated cities anywhere on earth. Cairo strives for, and largely succeeds, in being a vibrant modern city, while remaining indelibly linked to its past. Cairo is famous for its history, preserved in sites such as the medieval Islamic city, the incredible display of Ancient Egyptian artifacts is the Egyptian Museum and the shopping experience in the historic Khan al-Khalili bazaar. Egypt is a conservative Muslim country and visitors should wear modest clothing and should not exhibit public displays of affection.
