Netherlands Hotels Price Comparisons
The Kingdom of the Netherlands, shortened to the Netherlands or Holland, is one of the smallest countries in Europe. However, a population of approximately 17 million makes it one of the most densely populated countries in the world. The Dutch are highly skilled in mechanised farming methods and the Netherlands is one of the world's largest food exporters.
The country has borders with Germany to the east, Belgium to the south and the western and northern parts of the country face the North Sea. These beautiful North Sea beaches are a popular holiday attraction, visited by thousands if not millions of people every year. The Netherlands is a founding member of the European Union and the unit of currency is the Euro. The people, language, and culture of the Netherlands are referred to as "Dutch". The extremely flat, below sea level countryside makes the Netherlands an ideal place to cycle and the locals can be seen cycling all over the countryside and throughout the cities and towns. The capital city is Amsterdam. This historic city is one of the major destinations for visitors to Europe and is a favourite hub city because of its proximity to the major cities of Europe, the UK and Scandinavia. Amsterdam has the charm of an old European city. It is noted for its impressive, historic architecture that dates back to the period when The Dutch were a major colonial power. Lovely canals criss-cross this city of narrow cobble-stoned streets, bridges and friendly people where English is spoken by everyone. There is something for every traveller here, whether it's culture and history, the galleries filled with many of the world's great art treasures, a visit to the famous red-light district, after dark partying or just relaxing. The Netherlands offers her visitors lots of diversity. From the traditional fishing village with clogs, period costumes and windmills at Volendam, the typical Dutch landscapes and windmills at Kinderdijk, the spring flower fields at Keukenhof or the historic cheese markets at Alkmaar, Gouda, Edam and Hoorn.... this amazing country never disappoints.
