South Korea Hotels Price Comparisons
Formally the Republic of Korea, South Korea occupies the southern half of the Korean Peninsula and shares an uneasy border with its communist neighbour to the north. Archeological finds show signs of human presence on the peninsula dating back to 70,000 BC
The capital city is Seoul, with a population of over 10 million and by far the largest city in South Korea. The city is located in the north-west of the country, just 60 kms south of the Demilitarized Zone that separates the two Koreas. The country gained international exposure when it hosted the 1988 Summer Olympic Games. The South Korea of today is a liberal democracy and an economic powerhouse, the home of such industrial giants as Samsung and LG. Visitors to south Korea will find it to be one of the most densely populated countries in the world. The booming economy and Seoul's status as a leading financial center has attracted people from all over the world. More than one million foreigners reside in South Korea.
